Who We Are

Directors

Director - Mrs. Lauren Butaud

Lauren Butaud grew up in Galveston, Texas where she attended Ball High School and was a four year member of one of the oldest Texas drill teams, the Tornettes. During her time as a member she served as a social officer her sophomore year, Major her junior year, and Lt. Colonel her senior year. She was also awarded the title of Miss High Kick, HTE Kick All-Star, HTE Dance All-Star, and was a member of HTE’s Platinum Officer Line.

Upon graduation, Lauren moved to Baton Rouge to attend Louisiana State university where she majored in Advertising, minored in dance, and was a member of the Gamma Zeta chapter of Delta Gamma. Only two weeks under her belt as a Louisiana resident, Lauren witnessed Hurricane Katrina destroy the Gulf Coast, but she also witnessed the amazing bond of those who lost so much rise up around an organization near and dear to so many and one that would go one to serve as a beacon of hope and sign of resilience during such a tough time for the state: the New Orleans Saints.

Mrs. Butaud was selected as a member of the 2008 and 2009 New Orleans Saintsations, the official cheerleading team of the Saints. During her time on the squad she was selected as Rookie of the Year, served as a line leader, and was a member of the team’s travel squad taking part in trips across the US as well as to Mexico and London. She also enjoyed the weekly appearances out in the community to help those in need and inspire others such as the NFL Play 60 campaign and Angel’s Network. After experiencing the game of a lifetime, a Super Bowl XLIV win for the team, Butaud knew it was time to hang up her pom poms and pursue her teaching aspirations.

Mrs. Butaud’s career has included working as the Assistant Director for the Klein Cain Legacies and Head Director of the Grace King Kolleens, Ball High Tornettes before landing at her forever home with her forever team, the Taylor Pacesetters.

As a director Mrs Butaud has pushed her teams to numerous awards and finishing including Overall Grand Champion Team, Officers, and JV. She herself has also been awarded the Chevy Spotlight Award as well as serving in many different roles such as a member of the inaugural Klein ISD Fine Arts Service Committee, James E. Taylor Fine Arts Department Chair, spoken on numerous Fine Arts and Leadership panels and ,most recently, was awarded as an official adjudicator for TDEA in their Field and Dance Assessments.

None of this would be possible without  Mrs. Butaud’s supportive and devoted family made up of her husband Scott and sons Austin and Carter who are now part of the Katy ISD family. She is also thankful for her extended circle who helps raise her “village” because without them she wouldn’t get to live out her dream each and every day!

Mrs. Butaud’s coaching philosophy is, “Demand in direct proportion that you love,” and that is what she hopes each member of her team takes with her. She wants them to know they are a part of something bigger than just them, that they matter, and through pouring in love into the next generation, we will all be better for it.
